Nestled in the heart of McGregor, Minnesota, Jackson's Hole stands out as a genuine neighborhood gem — a charming "hole in the wall" bar where local history and warm hospitality intertwine. From the moment you step inside this family-run establishment at 26232 Kestrel Ave, you feel embraced by an atmosphere that’s as cozy as it is inviting, evoking the comfort of simpler times and childhood memories.
One of Jackson's Hole’s most captivating features is its unique handcrafted décor. As Jim Reeve noted, the bar boasts intricately hand-carved barstools shaped like trolls, accompanied by a beautifully carved bar top that serves as a centerpiece of character and craftsmanship. The owner’s attentiveness further personalizes the experience, sharing stories behind the carvings and creating a genuine connection that’s often missing in larger venues.
The true magic of Jackson's Hole lies not just in the ambiance but in the engaging locals and the fun activities that keep visitors coming back. Longtime patron Kimberly Emery fondly recalls the friendly bartenders — especially Junior — whose affable nature and entertaining stories turn an ordinary night into a memorable evening. Whether you’re swapping jokes over a cold drink or cheering a dart thrown across the room, this bar fosters a vibrant community spirit.
For those looking for a taste of nostalgic Minnesota pastime, Jackson's Hole offers pull tabs, a unique local game that Stacy Young reminisced about, describing it as an experience reminiscent of good old childhood days. It’s a tradition that adds a special layer of entertainment and has clearly captured the hearts of many visitors.
The drink menu doesn’t disappoint either, offering a refreshing variety to quench your thirst after a day of exploring. Travis Basavage summed it up perfectly, calling it the ideal “watering hole” near the Soo Line where great service and friendly faces warmly welcome you to relax and recharge.
Activities abound with options like darts and pool, perfect for unwinding or sparking friendly competition among friends and family. Lindsey Dahl Holm highlights the welcoming vibe created by the staff, especially Mary, who ensures every guest feels right at home.
In a world where bars can often feel impersonal or commercialized, Jackson's Hole is a remarkable exception — a humble, heartfelt establishment that invites you to slow down, connect with fascinating people, and savor an authentic slice of Northland culture. For anyone passing through or seeking a local hotspot to call their own, this bar offers much more than drinks; it offers memories, stories, and a sense of belonging.
Next time you’re in McGregor, make your way to Jackson’s Hole. Whether to try your luck with pull tabs, enjoy a friendly chat, or simply soak up the warm, handcrafted charm, you’ll quickly understand why so many consider it a beloved cornerstone of the community.
Wonderful "hole in the wall" bar, which from what i gathered is family run and operated. Didnt have any food but they run dailys and others where ordering. We Took the side by side to it and ended up feeling like my childhood again got to let my husband experience pull tabs (im convinced they're only in minnesota and not from a machine....)Great pricing and will be back!
Very interesting place with hand carved barstools of trolls. Plus the bar top is carved also. And the owner was very attentive to our needs and talked to us about the carvings.
I used come down here a lot when i was younger, mom mom still lives close by. Now im older i dont have much of a desire to leave my house. Anyway, had awesome food, bartender was always nice and accommodating. My mom loves pull tabs and she liked hanging out to talk with Junior, in my opinion, the best bartender this part of the northland, he had fantastic stories to tell or a funny joke, all around seemed like a happy guy. Not sure if hes still around but i sure miss those days.

Mary is amazing!! It is one of the places me, my boyfriend, and his brother like to go to get out of the house, have a drink, play darts/pool, and enjoy great company and service.
Typical bar atmosphere, waitress was great with kids. Fries (beer battered) are excellent and PLENTIFUL. Food was good, no complaints!
